English Music Session, The Borough

Our English music session takes place in the afternoon (12 noon carrying on to 3 or 3:30pm) on the first Sunday of each month. All musicians are welcome; in common with other English music sessions, tunes from all over the world are played, but in our (loose) interpretation of the southern English country style. It's not that we've got anything against singing, or Irish, French, Cajun music or whatever, but that's not what this session is about. If you are not sure about the repertoire come along and listen. If you want a book or CD to give you an idea of the sort of music we play a good start is the Hardcore English book and/or CD published by the EFDSS. The annual English Country Music Weekends form another point of reference.

Forthcoming dates are:

Sunday 4th September 2022
Sunday 2nd October 2022
Sunday 6th November
Sunday 4th December 2022 2022

This old-established (it started in 1981) session has had its home in a number of pubs in the Borough area of London; notably, and originally, in the Goose & Firkin.

We meet at:

The Horseshoe Inn
26 Melior Street

The Horseshoe is a traditional back street pub, serving a range of real ales. Food is available.

The pub is a few minutes' walk from London Bridge station (Northern line, Jubilee line and National Rail). Exit into St Thomas Street. Contact Transport for London for details of the many bus routes that serve the area.
