Friday 7th September 2018 Sylvia Barnes & Sandy Stanage Powerful dramatic Scots singer Sylvia Barnes on a rare London visit. She and guitar player Sandy Stanage have worked together since the 70s. Sandy played on The Colour of Amber (Greentrax) for which Sylvia was awarded Scots singer of the year 2006. "such conviction and emotion. A masterpiece of performance." Friday 21st September 2018 Jim MacFarland & Ken Wilson Fine Derry singer Jim MacFarland on a welcome return visit, this time with Ken Wilson (of the renowned Teeside Wilson Family). Solos and unison singing in the Irish "chorusing" tradition plus some hard hitting contemporary songs. Their CD is Here's a Health to the Company (BITCD346), reviewed here at Living Tradition.
Friday 26th October 2018 Landless With Irish music from Sheena Vallely (flute), Maggie Casey (whistles, fiddle), Johnny B (mandola) Dublin harmony group (Ruth Clinton, Sinead Lynch, Meabh Meir & Lily Power).
Brilliant and compelling acappella harmony singing from Dublin/Belfast group which evolved through friendship and singing sessions. Irish & Scots traditional songs, classic ballads and Travellers' songs. "Evocative, celestial and resonant."
Tonight's performance in association with Return to Camden / Irish Music and Dance in London.
